Ms. Sophrina Assey has vast experience of working as an editor whereby she started her career journey as a Science Editor at Dar es Salaam University Press (DUP) from 2005 to 2012. Throughout the period, she garnered publishing knowledge and skills from experienced editors. She also underwent a number of short courses and training in publishing from different avenues where she developed a capacity to handle manuscripts from primary to tertiary levels.

Her expertise in publishing was further advanced by her experience as an academic publishing editor at St. John’s University of Tanzania (SJUT) from 2012 to 2015 where she coordinated a project titled “Strengthening Research and Proposal Writing Skills at Academic Institutions in Tanzania.” The project involved training Tanzanian researchers and academic staff on research and grant proposal writing from which she was equipped to be a trainer as well. Other responsibilities she handled as the academic publishing editor include reviewing academic manuscripts for academic staff at the institution, training on how to get published in academic journals and offering support in publishing processes like journal identification and manuscript editing.

Academically, Sophrina is a holder of a Master’s Degree in Development Studies from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) with distinguishing performance in the Research Methodology course. She is also a holder of a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Sciences and Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). Her academic background which combine both natural and social science degrees qualify her to handle a wide array of manuscripts.

Mr. Eliah Urban Kilawe

Mr. Eliah is a Human Resource Officer in charge of Administrative and Human Resource Management Matters at Dar es Salaam University Press (DUP) and the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM). He has made significant contribution to the University in the areas of Administration and Human Resources Management. He has 10 years experience in Human Resources Management of which he served six years at the University of Dar es Salaam under the Directorate of Human Resource Management and Administration with remarkable achievements before being promoted to his current position of Human Resource Officer Grade I and entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing Administrative and Human Resource matters at IDS and DUP. He holds Certificate in Leadership awarded under East African Uongozi Leadership Programme, B.A. Political Science and Public Administration, UDSM. He is a Certified Human Resource Officer after successfully passing Proficiency Examinations for Human Resource Officers (PHR). He has also attended various off-the-job and on-the-job trainings including the Human Capital Management Information System (New Version Home Grown HCMIS) and others. Currently, he is pursuing MBA at the same University (UDSM).
